GOALS Launches GOALS Girls Hour on International Women’s Day 2026 Empowering Young Female Footballers Through Free Weekly Sessions and Mini-Tournaments

GOALS is officially celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 by launching Girls GOALS Hour, a pioneering initiative giving girls aged 16 and under the chance to play football completely free every Saturday from 2-3pm at any GOALS pitch across the UK.

The launch at GOALS Wembley coincides with the IWD campaign theme “Give To Gain”, which champions gender equality through collective action, mentorship and accessible opportunities.

The GOALS IWD event will feature mini-tournaments with local school and club teams (girls only), creating a space for young players to develop skills, compete, and enjoy the game.

The launch will be headlined by Priscilla Anyabu, the new GOALS Girls Hour ambassador, who will inspire and encourage participants, alongside grassroots football champion Tyra Mills, who will engage directly with the girls, celebrating the launch of Girls GOALS Hour and championing women’s participation in sport.

Priscilla Anyabu said : “Girls GOALS Hour is a perfect example of the IWD 2026 ‘Give To Gain’ ethos. By giving young girls the time, space and support to play football for free, we’re helping them gain confidence, skills and opportunities that can last a lifetime.”

Girls GOALS Hour seeks to break down barriers in sport, making football accessible to all girls and fostering a culture of mentorship, encouragement and collaboration.

GOALS believes that providing opportunities for young female athletes is not only about sport, it’s about empowering the next generation of women through teamwork, community, and confidence-building
