Walking Football is proving to be an ever growing sport in Leicestershire. We hosted our third tournament following recent successes.
On the 4th November we saw teams travel from Loughborough, Rushden and Diamonds, Coalville and Oakham play a fiercely competitive tournament. Assistant Manager, Pete decided to get the national walking football charity to get involved on the day. So Mark Davison came down to represent Prostate Cancer UK. Throughout the morning, he spoke to the group of players about the importance of getting checked out and looking for signs that things aren't quite right! Being a keen footballer himself he interacted well with the group and thanks to the generoisty we raised £90 on the day.
The tournament was a great success. Played competitively in a good nature. The group of 4 were split into two competitions with Oakham Catmose winning the Plate and Loughborough Town taking the trophy with a close fought victory over Rushden and Diamonds.
We're now looking at starting a New Walking Football League in partnership with Prostate Cancer UK. This will start in March 2019.
